I know that there are other things to do this weekend besides the Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival although I’m not sure how my employers would feel about me telling you about them. I’ll have my list of INTERSECTIONS suggestions to enjoy this weekend for you tomorrow.

Tonight mix your booze with your Hemingway at Union Market. The market and Philip Greene are co-hosting “To Have and Have Another.” Philip Greene is a member of The Museum of the American Cocktail and author of the newly released book “To Have and Have Another – A Hemingway Cocktail Companion. Buffalo and Bergen owner Gina Chersevani will be whipping up Papa’s favorite cocktails and guests will learn tidbits of his life as they sip. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. For a more sober evening head to the Hill Center for Talk of the Hill with Bill Press. Journalist and Hill resident, Press is hosting a series of topical discussions. Saturday The Ruth Ann Overbrook Capitol Hill History Project is hosting a gathering at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation to remember the historic March on Washington. The Church is located at 212 East Capitol Street NE and the doors will open at 1pm. The afternoon is for those who were there and for younger generations to hear the first hand historical accounts from their elders. The Program includes:
Paul Delaney, veteran journalist who covered the Civil Rights Movement and editor and correspondent for The New York Times will give the keynote address.
* Songs of the Civil Rights Movement sung by the chorus of Friendship Public Charter School, Chamberlain Campus.
* Presentations by winners of a student speech contest.
* Panel discussion with Courtland Cox, Rev. Reginald Green, Nellie Hailes, Daniel Smith, Brig Cabe, and Judy Bardacke, moderated by Rev. Edward A. Hailes, Jr. They will share personal stories of their experiences during the 1963 March on Washington.
Sunday once again the supporters and staff of Jan’s Tutoring House will gather at the Hill Center for a pre-Oscar celebration. Tommy Wells will emcee the evening which will include cocktails, appetizers and screenings of short films made by the students themselves.
