On March 21st, The Hill is Home will reach an important milestone in blogosphere years, our fourth birthday. We outgrew our infancy, surpassed the terrible twos, and screamed and shouted through our threes (it’s what we writers do best). But seriously, our success is largely due to you, the reader, so thanks! In the coming weeks, we will look at some stories from our past. It’s a feature that we are calling “This Week in THIH” and we hope it serves as a quick trip down memory lane!

  • On February 22, 2011, Tim Krepp was all hot and bothered (not much has changed) about a little ice and snow, which caused District school officials to call a two-hour delay for city schools. This was also the day that Krepp lost faith in DC schools and its reputation for dealing with inclement weather. “But you’ve embarrassed me with this one. They [the critics] were right, I was wrong, Apparently, DC just can’t handle the winter. You’re on your own, guys.” Lucky for DCPS, this year hasn’t been as bad weather-wise.
  • Using some good old fashioned community engagement, THIH asked Barracks Row Main Street several questions about small businesses and improvements along the Barracks Row corridor this time last year. Funny enough, a full year later, we’re still waiting on the opening of Nooshi and its Asian cuisine. Only time will tell.
  • And, this last one gets my vote for THIH hall-of-fame, on Feb. 24, 2010, Krya reported on a drug deal gone bad when an unsuspecting neighbor found a suspicious FedEx package at their doorstep. The package contained 10 kilos of marijuana. And to think, now we have a package theft problem in the neighborhood.
