Monday Morning Circle Time (Tuesday Edition)

Good morning! Enjoying the holiday season still? We are in the last two weeks and I am sensing party-fatigue setting in around me. The cookies, the nog, and all the people. Love them all but getting ready to hibernate for a while. We need to pace ourselves to make it through New Years’  in one piece. I know I’m done when the holiday recipes begin to turn me off and instead I find myself looking forward to the January recipes involving virtuous ingredients like  miso and greens.

This weekend Santa made his way to Fragers, did anyone bring their offspring for a visit?

Jen spent Friday night with the boys watching Happy Gilmore. She still does not like golf. Saturday she took the kids to Eastern Market to shop for their family members and they did very well sticking to their budget. That evening she forced her family to sped a few minutes caroling on East Capitol Street, followed by a Holiday party, which was followed by a birthday party. All that merriment wore her out so Sunday she rested.

Jon spent the majority of the weekend preparing for Christmas: put up and decorated the tree, set out the various other indoor holiday items, hung the stockings, frantically shopped for gifts, etc.  I felt very Hill-centric during the holiday prep, finding gifts for folks at Eastern Market, Frager’s Hardware, and even CVS. Sunday afternoon I reunited with an old friend – the Cuban sandwich from Canales in Eastern Market. It had been too long…

Claudia celebrated a friend’s birthday with dinner at Sticky Rice on Friday (love the newly expanded space! It was perfect for our table of 16), followed by drinks at the Biergarten Haus and Rock and Roll Hotel.  Saturday included dinner and basketball games at Molly Malone’s and on Sunday I discovered the deliciousness of the peppermint bark latte at Pound on the Hill.
