Monday Morning Circle Time

Good morning everyone! Did the sudden entrance of autumnal weather send you scrambling for socks and sweaters? Some were lamenting summer’s quick departure but Washingtonians know that we’re not out of the woods yet. As long as the mosquitoes live we cannot truly say summer is over.

But the summer heat lovers know the end is near. While we know the heat will return in the short-term, the signs of fall are everywhere. The butternut squash is back at the markets and the honey crisp apples have hit their peak of apple-ish perfection and of course football.

So besides watching your team of choice play yesterday what else did you do this weekend?

Jon: I spent Saturday morning at the National Building Museum at the Big  Build! Festival and a few thousand other parents as we let our kids chop, stack, glue, and connect all sorts of building materials.  Saturday afternoon was spent taking in the excitement and craziness of the H Street Festival.  Sunday was a low-key day, meeting a friend for
a belated birthday brunch and relaxing at home.

Jen: Friday I was busily prepping for the H Street Festival, I briefly stopped by the sponsor/Art Car party at Gallery O/H but left early to get some sleep. I was out on H at 7 as part of my ill-advised decision to join the festival planning committee. Although this position offered me the opportunity to wear a walkie talkie headset all day. After the fest was set I headed over to the Atlas and was there for most of the day. That night I tossed drunks off of the festival patios and then collapsed after over 14 hours on my feet. Sunday we had brunch at the Argo and celebrated 13 years of marriage with homemade lasagna and blueberry pie.

Lauren: Had a backyard cookout with friends and fam on Friday night. Saturday we went to the H St Festival, pup in tow and were quickly reminded of the hassles of bringing a dog into a massive group of people, but managed to stop at the lobster truck and metro mutts tent so everyone was happy. Sunday we went to Friendship Heights for a girls spa day followed by brunch.

Maria: On Saturday, Maria spent some quality time at the H Street Festival, which was pretty incredible and all manner of excellent superlatives. Sunday was spent recovering from the awesomeness of the festival and editing pictures.  Woo!
