The office bug that has been slowly knocking people out has finally found me, and I have to agree with my sick co-workers — summer colds are much less fun than winter colds. Not that winter colds are fun but at least then you can just curl up under the covers and sip tea until you feel better. When it’s 90+ degrees out, tea and hot soup are the last things you want. So while I sit here sniffling and sneezing, be grateful for your health because this heat is even less bearable when you have a fever. Alright enough whining, I have work to do. And you have some reading to catch up on. Enjoy!
- Washingtonian checked out Tru Orleans
- DCist, along with many other city blogs were abuzz as Obama lunched at Good Stuff Eatery. We chose to just treat it like any other day because, well, the Obamas and many other political leaders do come by quite often. It’s just another fun part of living in our neighborhood. Although the motorcades and blocked-off sidewalks are a bit annoying at times.
- The City Paper reported that the Union Station Redevelopment Corporation has scaled back its proposed redesign of the great hall of Union Station; the new designs will still open it up to the lower level, but with smaller staircases instead of a large pit, similar to the one that didn’t work out so well in the 70s.
- The EMMCA blog called the National Association for Home Care & Hospice building’s first floor space a “drain on weekend market energy,” which I feel is a common sentiment around here. While they have reportedly been offered retail tenants, the landlord has turned them away, but a reason has yet to be shared.
- The Crepes place in SE may still be a little ways off, but you can now satisfy your craving at HR-57. DC Eater got the scoop.
