Monday Morning Circle Time

Photo by Maria Helena Carey, who hopes you made it to the Carnival but didn't spend your weekend hanging by your feet.

So how was your weekend?  Did you get to enjoy the last dregs of really perfect, excellent weather, a.k.a. “The Summer weather we should always have,” before the heatwave is upon us?  Did you belatedly celebrate France?  Did you weep along with the US Women’s soccer team?  Tell us in the comments, won’t you?  Here is what our intrepid THIHers did during the weekend respite:

Jon had a fun Friday afternoon that started with picking up his Jeep to find out the repairs were covered under warranty and there was no charge. We then got an early dinner at Truckeroo (my first Lobster Roll from the truck!) and enjoyed some of the concert at the Yards Park.  Saturday we spent the day at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis with friends and family.  We ended the day with all-you-can-eat Maryland crabs (I found out 14 is all I can eat).  Sunday was a day of errands, cleaning up the house, and laundry with a trip to 32 Below for a fro-yo reward in the evening.

On Friday night, Angelique headed out to Arlington, Va to see one of her favorite musicians and artists: Joseph Arthur. She had a great night of drinking beer and swooning. On Saturday, the grown-ups were tired from a night out and the children were tired from staying at a friend’s house so it was a day at home with a trip to Lincoln Park for a picnic dinner. Sunday was a trip to the zoo, which concluded with pineapple ginger martinis at home.

Nichole spent the weekend in the woods by the river, kayaking, canoeing, playing cornhole, drinking beer and generally recreating her a** off.

On Friday Jen nursed an injured BYT photog who wrecked in front of her house during the Moonlight bike ride. Saturday, she and her husband sent the kids to Jersey for the week and checked out Tru Orleans for a drink but weren’t up for the long wait so had a great dinner at Ethiopic instead.  Sunday she escaped to a nice but kind of weird Mexican resort for a few days.

On Saturday Kyra stopped by Results for a Pilates class with her good friend–who also happens to be a great Pilates instructor–Katherine Hambrice.  After wishing she had a bigger account balance at the bank (and a Results membership), she tended to her home and garden before making her way to IKEA for dinner and a spin around the store. On Sunday she perfected her (lacking) social skills by staying home and ignoring the world while she painted her kitchen.

Bringing up the rear, Maria was honored to be part of a photography exhibit at The Corner Store on Saturday evening, where she met some really lovely people– some of which liked her photographs enough to take them to their respective homes!  (THANK YOU!) Afterward, an impromptu celebration at Senart’s Oyster and Chop House ensued: oh, Moscow Mule– thou art enchanting in your little frosty copper mug.  On Sunday, Maria and posse brunched at the Argonaut, where the kids keep trying to break world records in making french toast disappear; afterward, there was errand-running, garden-tending, and an early bedtime.
