Monday Morning Circle Time

photo by Randy Son of Robert

Good morning sunshine!  Lovely to see you.  Of course we’re all discombobulated from the loss of one tiny hour yesterday.  It will take until next weekend to get back into the groove of things.  This sunny day helps take the edge off of the misery and it should help our collective circadian rhythms get back in sync.

Did you all enjoy this bright and shiny weekend? It was “Plant a Flower Day” yesterday:  how many of you took them up on that?

Lauren: Finds it hard to believe that “springing forward” and losing just one hour of sleep could result in my being exhausted all day Sunday, but that’s what I am. Probably also due in large part to a busy weekend spent at work covering the massive earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan on Friday. Definitely counting my blessings and saying a little prayer for those impacted by the devastation this weekend.

Claudia: I spent the weekend in Florida watching the Nationals at Spring Training…where they beat the Yankees 6-5.  And they actually played well!  Now if only that can do that through the regular season…

Nichole: On Friday I stayed in and worked (very exciting, I know). Saturday was spent out at Linden Vineyards followed by seeing the Jaynettes reunite at the H Street Playhouse followed by after-show drinks at the Argonaut. Sunday was spent sleeping in (daylight saving time be damned), and spending time with my pooch, who I think has been feeling neglected lately due to my insanely busy work schedule of late!

Angelique: On Friday, Jason and I had a lovely dinner with lots of Dark and Stormys and sans children at the Argonaut.  Our Saturday was the complete opposite as 5 little kindergartners invaded our house for a sleepover to celebrate Ally’s 6th birthday. It was just as I expected: total chaos. Sunday was spent playing in Lincoln Park and recovering from the night before. I remember when recovering meant from a case of beer, not five 6 year olds.

Maria: Maria let the Daylight Saving Time blindside her completely.  Thank goodness The Argonaut is open at 10 am and is awesome– otherwise, the descent into complete chaos would have been ugly.

Kyra and her toddler walked the Hill on Saturday (side note: a gallon of milk is almost $10 at Yes!… WTF?!) and spent Sunday at the Minute Clinic with a increasingly sick toddler. Am I the only one excited to go back to work this week?

Jen: Again spent most of her waking hours at the Atlas for the last weekend of the festival.  It was awesome, lots of new people came to the theatre and  to H Street (“You know you really should do something about the PARKING situation down here.” ) but I’m glad it’s over. Caught a bit of the workouts for the Capitol Hill Little League and the Jaynettes reunion.  And now I must return to my neglected home and family….and the piles of laundry.

    can you define “almost $10”?

i saw the organic whole milk for $6.99 on saturday. expensive? yes. almost $10? eh, no.

  2. @IMGoph – a gallon is more than $9 at Yes! right now, so yes, that counts as almost $10.

claudia: so they raised the price over $2 a gallon overnight? that’s shocking. don’t know how they can get away with that.

  4. @IMGoph I don’t work there so I can’t answer to it. I just happened to stop into the Yes! by Eastern Market on my way into work for a drink and checked the price. Maybe we were looking at different brands or at different stores? Aren’t there more important things to focus on?

claudia: sure, but the entire premise of this blog post is a weekly chance for you guys to just say “hey, look how cool we are for what we did over the weekend,” so if we’re going to accuse each other of the need to focus only on “more important things,” perhaps you could eliminate this weekly feature entirely, and give us a round-up of important world events, or what you’ve all done to stop the spread of AIDS.

i don’t mean to get in a pissing match with you, but please, this is the comment section of a silly blog post. if you don’t want people commenting on it, eliminate the ability to have comments, or ban me from your comments. others have done so.
