A CNN story on December 6 that looked at how the recession is affecting small business featured our very own Capitol Hill Bikes. An email from the bike store today indicated that they are still looking to re-open on the Hill soon and are in the process of negotiating a lease.

None of these stories ever mentions the tax and regulatory burdens on business. These fall disproportionately on small businesses, especially the cost of reporting requirements.
These are an ever increasing share of the cost of operations that limit the ability of businesses to create permanent new jobs or keep current ones.
