  1. Thomas Riehle says:

It would be a major improvement for the neighborhood to improve the Eastern Market Metro plaza, with trees and information signs pointing people to Barracks Row restaurants, Eastern Market, the weekend flea market and the retail stores on Pennsylvania Avenue SE and 7th Street.

As a bald, old man, I’d also say I wish the pedestrian lights at 7th, 8th and 9th along Pennsylvania Avenue SE were re-timed to give me some more time to cross the street.

I hope there is enough money for the city to consider doing that.

That’s the Town Square Task Force design plan called “Improved Existing,” and that’s what I am for.

I am opposed to the two or three other Town Square Task Force design plans that could cost about 10,000 times more $$$ than sprucing up the Metro Plaza and re-timing the lights. That’s nuts.

I’d like to see more trees in the Eastern Market Metro plaza (and signs, and maybe a kiosk and some benches), but people, c’mon now….money doesn’t grow on trees.

Come out to St. Peter’s Church on Wednesday, July 1 at 7 pm to review the various proposals and express your opinion.
