What do a dinner hosted by Council Member David Grosso, a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral, and a week-long stay at a lovely Maine cottage have in common? They will all be up for grabs at Maury at the Market on Saturday, March 22, Maury Elementary School’s annual live and silent auction at Eastern Market’s North Hall from 7-10 pm.
All of our Hill neighbors and friends are encouraged to join us at this fun, adults-only night out to support Maury, a thriving neighborhood school serving children in grades PK3-5. Your ticket includes delicious food catered by Nando’s, yummy dessert treats courtesy of Capitol Hill Cake Mom, and an open wine and beer bar generously supplied by neighborhood favorite, The Argonaut.
Maury at the Market is the school’s flagship fundraiser, with net proceeds directed to the Maury PTA. In turn, the PTA provides activities and resources that greatly enhance students’ school experience, such as funding classroom aides and expanding academic and enrichment programs.
The evening features a silent auction with hundreds of items, a live auction, and a raffle with a chance to win a new iPad. Auction items range from the necessary to the indulgent and include summer camp weeks; services like home repair, school consultations, babysitting, personal training, and estate planning; activities and excursions with some of Maury’s beloved teachers (and one very exceptional principal!); art by Maury students; and unique experiences, such as lunch with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton.
