Among the tire shops, gas stations and the-hard-to-miss, 24-hour Denny’s is where you will find Bardo, a new brewpub, which has been transported from Arlington to Trinidad.

The bar opened on Monday and brings new nightlife to Northeast, DC. It’s a unique out-of-the-way destination for an outdoor movie or a round of cornhole with friends.

Think of this as Trinidad’s version of the Fairgrounds at Nationals Park, minus, you know, the Major League Baseball.

Those who have spent any time in Arlington, know that Bardo (also known as Dr. Dremo’s) was originally located in Arlington’s Courthouse neighborhood on the grounds of an old car dealership. At the time, it was one of the largest brewpubs in the country.

There are big hopes for the new location. But, plans are still being worked out for how the space will operate as a brewery.

The beer garden itself is pretty Spartan. The bar is made from plywood and there’s a giant portable refrigerator keeping the kegs cool. Picnic tables and benches line-up next to massive brewing tanks, scattered like relics in a graveyard. There’s also a grass field that wraps around what once was a tire shop, and may soon be an indoor bar space.

But, for those looking for a cold beer and a place to kill a late-summer night, this might be your new drinking spot. The brewpub has almost a dozen beers on tap, ranging in price from $5-$8, with beers like Victory’s Hop Devil IPA and Devils Backbone Vienna Lager.

If only there was still Major League Baseball in Trinidad, like there was in the old days… 🙂
