Robert Pohl worked for many years as a computer programmer but recovered from that and became a full time stay-at-home dad. With his son now in school, he has expanded his horizons and become a self-taught historian. He has written books about his house as well as Emancipation in the District of Columbia. Then and Now: The National Capitol Brewing Company

The National Capital Brewing Company was one of many breweries in D.C. before Prohibition. Built by Albert Carry after buying out Humphrey & Juenemann’s Brewery, it was one of the bigger operations in the city. With the banning of alcohol, it became a dairy, with the space eventually taken over by a grocery store.
