María Helena Carey has always liked to write, tell stories and take pictures but it wasn’t until she moved to the Nation’s Capital that she began exploring all three in a serious manner. She loves poking around Capitol Hill and photographing some of her favorite things: food, her kids, quirky little dogs and cats, and Capitol Hill façades. Fourth of July Parade

In probably one of the nicest Fourth of July weathers in recent memory and under very blue skies, Capitol Hill resumed its beloved parade tradition. This year’s edition counted with a heavy push by the Mayor’s office and it definitely showed in the numbers marching and lining 8th Street SE. Enjoy the photos!
