Fire at the Capper Center

There is an two-alarm fire currently ablaze at the Arthur Capper Senior Apartments, 900 5th Street SE. According to neighbor Bruce DarConte, he and his wife entered the building and no alarms were going off. He told us via Twitter, “Residents had no idea there was a problem. We scared people, banging on their doors.” A preliminary report by Telemundo states that the fire started in the roof of the senior center, quickly moving down. Another report from the Ring network, shared by Claudia Rauch, there appear to be no reported injuries at this time.
