In news to gladden people who love to eat (good) food, Haidar Karoum, the chef behind Doi Moi, Proof and Estadio, will be opening a restaurant in the Near Southeast/Capitol Riverfront/Yards Park area: Chloe.
The Arris building –which hosted chic pop-up Steadfast Supply Co. back during the holidays and which counts Philz Coffee and Conte Bike Shop as tenants (and soon to have an amazing-sounding nail place to add to its quiver of offerings) will also be the home for Karoum’s first solo project.
Named after one of his nieces –and also the name of the Greek goddess of bounty– the restaurant plans on serving locally-sourced American fare that pays homage to the chef’s own Lebanese heritage. In the chef’s own words: “The food at Chloe will always reflect what’s regionally available from the farmers and purveyors I’ve been working with for the last two decades. I cook with instinct, and do my best to showcase the great work of these growers as simply and cleanly as possible. It would never occur to me to cook any other way.”
