Hey the To Do list is back. Happy New Year and I hope you have done your hibernating and are now ready for some fun.

Tonight at the Hill Center relive the good old days of the Cold War with a screening of the John le Carré spy classic Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. This is the 6 part BBC mini-series adaptation with Sir Alec Guinness and not the more recent Gary Oldman film. The entire series will be shown at the Hill Center, two episodes at a time, on three nights and in one all day marathon. Tonight are episodes 1 & 2. The rest of the schedule is: Episodes 3 & 4- January 15Episodes 5 & 6- January 22, and the all-day Marathon- January 25. Tickets are free and the screening begins at 7:30pm. Register here.

Friday night is another Paint & Sip at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. Is one of your resolutions to allow your inner muse the freedom to express itself? No? Well still painting and drinking wine is fun. The evening runs from 6:30 to 8:30 and the $30 registration fee covers snacks, wine and supplies. Learn more here.

Saturday night at Gallery O/H say au revoir to Christmas and ‘allo to Mardi Gras season at their 12th Night/Mardi Gras Party. The event begins at 8pm and is free though there is a suggested donation of $10. Expect music by Ian B. Walters and Phil Wiggins, a traditional King Cake, a fortune teller, something called Dance A Fire which sounds fun/dangerous. Proceeds go to benefit Santa’s Cause DC which purchases coats and other necessities for kids in DC’s foster care program. More information can be found on the events’s Facebook page.

Guitarist and mandolin player Orrin Starr appears Saturday evening at The Corner Store. Starr was named National Flatpicking Champion in 1976 and has appeared on Prairie Home Companion. He tours the world performing and teaching. The concert begins at 7pm and tickets are $20 in advance and $24 at the door. More information can be found here.

Sunday of course is football for those who still care. Otherwise bundle up, head out and maybe take a stroll through the balmy Botanical Gardens and dream of spring.

Have a great weekend!
