From the Blogs: Hine Junior High redevelopment

224226-0-0-12DCMud reports that the city is moving forward in it’s plan to redevelop the property where the Hine Junior High sits on 7th and Pennsylvania Ave., SE.

District administrators will be hosting a community showcase of all six proposals on June 10th at Tyler Elementary School at 1001 G Street, SE.  The meeting will begin at 6 PM and is open to the public.

The educational facility was shuttered in 2007. Now, according to city officials, the various proposals aim to repurpose the Eastern Market site for “combinations of new housing, office space, nonprofit space and neighborhood-serving retail space.”  There are six firms contending for the project.
