Improvements to our favorite little highway, also known in our house as the speed-demon Southeast Freeway, are plodding along. Now we’re entering the challenging part of the project, enduring the following closures: 8th Street, SE and 9th Street, SE on-ramps at Virginia Avenue, SE. Plus, local traffic to northbound DC 295, southbound I-295 or Eastbound Pennsylvania Ave, SE will be detoured to M Street, SE and outbound I-695. (Follow all of that? Let’s hope DDOT does a better job with detour signage than they have shown themselves capable of in the past.)
I can’t wait to see if navigating trips off the Hill will be easier and faster once all that mud is transformed by DDOTs grand visions. Read this to get a full picture of the upcoming closures.
