The last time we had snow like this, I was a furloughed government employee. So, it was a snow days without pay, and not so much fun. I remember trudging over to Congressional Market for supplies: provisions of mac & cheese, ben & jerrys, and Earnest & Gallows (just kidding about that one!). I’m a little more discriminating these days, but something about staying home, open curtains wowing me each time I walk by, and the occasional Christmas tune on the iPod rotation makes treats sound like a reasonable snow companions. Last night we celebrated Alexandria Public Schools closing with cream cheese brownies, and I’ve gone to Dunkin’ Donuts more than in the entire year. The dog will will barely traverse the steps, but I go loping off in search of comfort food with ease. Poor guy gets snow in his paws. My LL Bean duck boots, bought when I was 17, do just fine.
