Good morning everyone. I hope you enjoyed the gorgeous weekend. Those of us with kids in public school may be enjoying an extension and I for one am okay with it.
Friday night brought lots of revelers to Yards park for a fundraiser for Living Classrooms. The Redskins are apparently beginning their traditional downward spiral early this season prompting a certain fan I know to begin to search out a cure for his addiction to the team. Admitting you have a problem is the first step.
Maria: Cleaned, scrubbed, grocery-shopped, slept, Foursquare-badged, kiddy-partied, drove, and may or may not admit to watching, enjoying, or shedding a tear whilst watching “Forrest Gump.” (She is certainly never owning up to saying the lines along with the actors.)
Jon: I spent Friday and Saturday at a small conference in New York City, taking in as much of SoHo and the East Village as I could before taking a train back to DC Saturday afternoon to celebrate a birthday dinner with my daughter. Sunday started with a flurry of yard work and clean up in preparation for our first kids birthday party, complete with rented moonbounce. We tired out ten tots before collapsing ourselves.
Jen: Welcomed my parents for a weekend visit which included lots of grandson-sports-watching. We also did lots of cooking and eating. A spur of the moment purchase of okra at the H Street Farmers Market prompted my first attempt at cooking (and eating) gumbo. Our table of gumbo neophytes pronounced it tasty.
