I love love love milkshakes. I also can’t eat them thanks to an issue with my stomach not liking dairy. It tortures me, but oh, how I love them. And now we actually have a lot of options for milkshakes in the neighborhood. So tell me, who serves up the best milkshake?

“Best” for the money or “best” period? With some shakes at Ted’s going for $8 it makes a difference.
I’ve only had Good Stuff shakes so I don’t feel qualified to vote. But Good Stuff shakes are reallllly good…
Are the $8 shakes alcoholic?
Ted gets to put booze in his shakes, so I wouldn’t exactly call this a fair competition. That’s like saying, who’s got a better rack: Pamela Anderson or Dame Judi Dench? If I am judging on the content of the shake’s character and not the flashy trappings (silver cup, long neck spoon) and trimmings (burnt, floating marshmellow), who might my winner be?
For purity of diner spirit, for unapologetic attitude (love the challenge of their “you figure it out” hours), for keeping it interesting, for being an institution that hasn’t bent to trend or gentry, for making homemade ice cream, for the ease and speed of delivery, for a sensible price point, and for NOT forcing me to stand in a preposterously long line, before shuffling me off into an awkward shifting cluster by the front door, where I am forced to clutch a ridiculous device – generally found at Applebee’s, where, the device seems to miraculously work – and wait too long for a shake that is too sweet, too expensive and not really want I want anymore after smelling the delicious burgers for 20 min. Jimmy T’s = best buzz-free shake on our here Hill. But I love to shake it up and tie one on with Ted. (Spike, take a hint from Ted and get an ice cream window!)
Spike could spike his shakes. He chooses not to.
I can get a burger cooked the way I like it and a grown-up shake at Ted’s. They get my vote.
pete’s diner….unpretentious, pure bliss! and you can’t argue with $3.95.
