Every week I compile these snippets of our bloggers’ lives and, well I don’t know about you but I have begun to see a disturbing and stark divide between the lives of these generous folks who blog for your enjoyment.
Do you see it?
The childless are having much more fun.
I sort through the happy hours and impromptu cook outs while the parents among us kindly offer us their weekends spent at Ikea, on a soccer field or battling some sort of tantrum or virus.
Both groups do find common ground in the their love for the Hill and, of course, adult beverages.
Almost all of us, with or without offspring, found our way to H Street on Saturday but what else did we do?
Nichole: I know I can sum up Saturday for a bunch of THIH writers: H Street Festival! Friday was Festival prep, and after the the whole thing was over on Saturday, I headed to Mi Vecindad with Claudia and Maria for tequila and pork. Sunday: sleeping, cleaning, and grabbing dinner fixins’ at P&C Market!
Kyra: I spent an extra-long weekend with family and dear friends in Chicago.
Jon: Saturday was a jam packed day, starting at the H Street Festival where we enjoyed access to all parts of the Atlas and some delcious treats from Taylor and the Wonky Truck. We then headed up to Gaithersburg for the rest of the weekend to work with 20 couples engaged to be married as they complete their pre-wedding education requirements.
Sharee: I had a fun afternoon working the CHAMPS booth at the H Street Festival with Nichole and sharing our tent with Metro Mutts, Fitness Together, Bikram Yoga Capitol Hill and Maid Pro. Sunday we sampled a microbrew from Michigan at our neighbor’s house, hit a Beaujolais tasting at Cork and wrapped up the evening having dinner with neighborhood friends at Bistro Cacao.
Maria: Saturday was spent at the H Street Festival, blogging and taking pictures and waiting for the older child to get his face painted. Also went to a birthday party (I cannot believe my and my friends’ kids are turning five!) And enjoyed free tequila at Mi Vecindad, with Nichole and Claudia.
Claudia: After a huge brunch on Saturday morning, I spent the majority of my day at H Street Festival, followed by dinner at Mi Vecindad, where Henry was having a grand opening party. On Sunday I met a friend at the Tune Inn for a late breakfast, took a walk through Yards Park, and then watched a frustrating loss by the Skins at Fed Ex Field.
David: Headed out to Nick’s Country Bar in Alexandria on Friday night, where I realized I didn’t know anything about line dancing. On Saturday, spent the day at the H Street Festival and then had dinner at Mi Vecindad, where I ran into other THIHers. Took it easy on Sunday.
Jen: This was my sixth H Street Festival, believe it or not. The first I spent watching the action from the Atlas box office; there was a faux purse dealer and some kind of meat-on-stick vendor in my view…and a lot of empty…So Saturday was just…WOW. I spent almost the whole festival at the Atlas Open House and welcomed many, many folks who had never been inside, always a treat. I then dragged myself to the Argo’s crowded patio to meet the family for dinner and our kindly councilmember shared his table with us…he may have thought better of it after listening to my two chatterboxes. Sunday was spent trying to get away with doing as little as possible.
