- MPD Makes Arrest in William Howard Taft Bridge Fatal Crash
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the arrest of three suspects in a fatal traffic crash that occurred in Northwest.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 5:35 p.m., United States Park Police detected a stolen vehicle, a silver 2014 Honda Accord in the area of Rock Creek Parkway and Virginia Avenue, Northwest. United States Park Police attempted a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled north on Rock Creek Parkway onto Shoreham Drive, north on 24th Street, and south onto Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. As the suspect vehicle sped south on the William Howard Taft Bridge, the suspect vehicle crossed into the opposite lanes of traffic and struck a moped. The impact of the crash caused the victim to be ejected from the moped and into the street.
The suspect vehicle did not stop and continued southbound off the William Howard Taft Bridge, and onto Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The drivers of the suspect vehicle turned onto Kalorama Road, Northwest, and struck an occupied Toyota RAV4. The suspect vehicle came to a final stop after colliding with the Toyota. All occupants of the suspect vehicle attempted to flee the area but were quickly apprehended by members of the United States Park Police and the United States Marshals Service.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and despite all lifesaving effort the operator of the moped, an adult male, was pronounced dead. The occupants of the Toyota RAV4, two adult males, were transported to a local area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 46-year-old Nolberto Meza of Hyattsville, Maryland.
Members of MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit (MCIU) were requested by United States Park Police to assist with the traffic crash. As a result of MPD’s MCIU detectives’ investigation, the occupants of the suspect vehicle, were arrested.
The driver of the suspect vehicle, 24-year-old Tomas Anderson, of Northeast, D.C. was charged with Murder II. The additional occupants of the suspect vehicle, 19-year-old Donnie Palacios, of Southeast, D.C., and a 16-year-old juvenile male of Fort Washington, Maryland were charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle – Crime of Violence.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces two arrests in a armed robbery (gun) that occurred in Southeast.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, at approximately 11:02 p.m., the suspects approached the victim at 2nd Place and L Street, Southeast. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s shoes. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene. Two of the suspects were arrested by canvassing officers. The victim’s shoes and a BB gun were recovered.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Capitol Heights, MD, and a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Seat Pleasant, MD, were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun).

- MPD Arrests Suspect in 2024 Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the arrest of a suspect in a fatal shooting in Northeast, DC, that left one man dead and two others injured.
On Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to the 1700 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two men with gunshot wound injuries. One of the victims was located inside of a business and another outside.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported both victims to a local hospital for treatment. Despite all lifesaving efforts, one of the men died from his injuries. The second victim was treated for critical injuries.
Later, a third man arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound and was treated for critical injuries.
The decedent was identified as 26-year-old Malon Nurse, of Upper Marlboro, MD.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court indictment, 23-year-old Charlie Laster, of Capitol Heights, MD, was arrested and charged for First Degree Murder while Armed.

On Friday, May 22, 2026, at approximately 9:40 a.m., the suspect approached the victim in the 500 block of I Street, Southwest. The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s shoes. The victim complied and the suspect fled the scene.
On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, a 14-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, DC, were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun).
- MPD Makes Arrest in Child Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department announces that an arrest has been made in the homicide of an infant.
On August 2, 2025, at approximately 1:37 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 1500 block of F Street, Northeast, for the report of an unconscious child. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive male infant. DC Fire and EMS transported the infant to an area hospital, where, on August 10, 2025, after all life-saving efforts failed, he was pronounced dead.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and the manner of death to be homicide.
The victim has been identified as 11-month-old Jacari Mills, of Northeast.
On June 11, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 32-year-old Aniqua Kristinia Mills, of Newport News, VA. On June 26, 2026, Mills, the mother of the decedent, was extradited to DC and charged with First Degree Murder—Felony Murder and First Degree Cruelty to Children.

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an additional arrest of a suspect involved in an assault that occurred at the Chipotle in Navy Yard.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 8:41 p.m., the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) received a call for a large fight inside of the Chipotle in the 1200 block of First Street, SE. MPD members were already deployed in the area to monitor a large group and arrived on scene within one minute of the call. The officers were advised that the individuals involved in the fight had already fled the location. Witnesses reported one group of juveniles were inside of the establishment when another group entered, and a fight broke out immediately. Both groups fled prior to the officer’s arrival. No injuries were reported.
On June 10, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 15-year-old male, of Southeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Affray.
On June 11, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 16-year-old male, of Southeast, DC, and a 16-year-old male, of Temple Hills, MD, were arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Affray.
On Saturday, June 20, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court custody order, a 16-year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Chair).
