In case you’re not familiar, the DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) is an incredible local non-profit that not just helps feed underserved communities and prevent food waste, but they also train young people and folks who may encounter barriers to employment for all kinds of reasons, such as disability, age, past criminal record, or lack of access to resources. Recently, class 171 took to the dais and tossed their togas in the air, becoming part of the almost 2,300 people who have been through one of DCCK’s academies.

The current culinary training cohort started their latest program on Monday, April 14 and one of the two classes focuses on single mothers. If you or anyone you know is interested in DC Central Kitchen’s programs, make sure to check out their enrollment page. There, you can find an application link.
If you’re looking for a volunteer opportunity instead, visit their volunteer page. There are volunteer slots every single day of the year and if you’ve been looking for a sign to sign up, you should know that April is National Volunteer Month.
Congratulations to cohort 171 and we may see you at a beloved restaurant (or heading your own) very soon!
