Hill Buzz

Hey there and happy Wednesday! It’s icky today but just remind yourself that if it’s a little cooler, the cherry blossoms will last longer. What’s going on?

We can’t get enough of your blossom shots, friends! Love this capture of a proud pup, cherry blossoms and our fave, Major General Nathanael Greene, who always seems ready to point to the best secret blossoms in DC. Photo by @stevie.walks on Instagram.

Commissioners Keya Chatterjee and Robb Dooling have been leading the way to make H Street NE safer. They have recently launched a petition and have spread colorful posters up and down H Street, and WJLA did a piece on them. If you are interested in signing the petition, you can do so here.

The Hill Rag has updates on both Ward 7 and Ward 8 ANC redistricting task forces– both of which are very pertinent to our area, as the eastern portion of Capitol Hill and the riverfront are no longer part of Ward 6. Looks like ANC 7A is once again an entity, for starters.

In what is good news for the neighbors of the DashMart last-mile delivery hub in the 1300 block of E Street NE, the company will cease its operations there by September of 2022. Hill Rag

However, due to the way DoorDash withdrew, it looks like the door is wide open for any business who chooses to use a retail space as a distribution center.

Duke’s Grocery is coming to Navy Yard! They will be opening their fourth location in fall of this year. They will be opening at 1201 Half Street SE. We tweeted about it earlier here.

And speaking of never leaving, looks like The Big Board has their liquor license back– and plenty of cash to pay for it. DCRA reinstated it on March 1:

Don’t forget: This weekend, there is not just one but TWO marathons happening in our area. On Saturday, March 26, Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series takes over the neighborhood and the whole downtown area. And on Sunday, and pretty much new news to us, the Scope It Out 5k will also be happening around parts of northwest and southwest DC. More information and links in the tweets below:

In parting news, Capitol Hill residents are alive, well and awesome:
