Walking by the Capitol on the House side, you may have noticed the podium that was installed there to give members of Congress a place to speak to the media. That this is used is not newsworthy, or cause for us to send out our photographer, but on Monday, the media had been summoned to talk about a subject close to our heart: The global climate crises, and, in particular, the details in the budget resolution/reconciliation bill currently being debated in Congress that will address the issue. (RSP)
The members of Congress arrive: Representative Castor from Florida – the chair of the House Select Committee on Climate Crisis – in the red, then Representative Horsford from Nevada in the blue suit and finally Representative Casten from Illinois. Representative Dingell from Michigan was there, as well. (RSP)
The Capitol provided a dramatic backdrop for the speakers, who pointed out how the bill helped out both globally in reducing emissions, US-wide by introducing new technologies and locally by bringing jobs to their districts. (RSP)

At the end, an opportunity for the assembled media to ask questions. Between the fact that he couldn’t understand the conversation and the fact that it was extremely hot, our photographer fled at this juncture (RSP)
