And just like that, we’re halfway through the year. Happy Lohanmas to all who celebrate! Lohanmas is a day when we celebrate the icon that is Lindsay Lohan and also mourn what the tabloids did to her back in the early aughts. What else should we be aware of?

Okay, so remember how last week I was all snide about the Mayor snubbing our Fourth of July Parade? Guess who is going to be there with lots of green, a huge entourage and possibly bells on? Yep! She announced it yesterday on Twitter and if you’re so inclined, you can walk with her–– sign up here! All’s well that sweats well.

Over on H Street, new ground has been broken for a project that has been in the works in some form but has also languished. You may recall that The C.A.T. Walk, Marie’s Beauty Supply, Duffy’s, Ritas and most of that block has been waiting for… something. Larry over at Capitol Hill Corner has more news on it. PoPville has a little bit of demolition action too.

If you’re going to be building a big ol’ stadium and you are constrained by parking spaces (because you have angry neighbors who definitely DO NOT WANT loads of parking), you’d better have a better transportation plan ready and city leaders agree. WTOP and NBC-4 have more info on this urgency, with a July 23 deadline looming.

My question, as ever, is WHY ARE WE NOT INVESTING ON MORE RIVER CROSSINGS? I dunno. I feel like no one seems invested in connecting the communities east of the Anacostia with all the goods, services and, frankly, wealth available on this side and A BRIDGE is an easier way to do that but I guess it’s just me.
