- MPD Investigating Rosedale Street Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Northeast.
On Saturday, July 11, 2026, at approximately 8:24 p.m., Fifth District officer responded to the 1600 block of Rosedale Street, Northeast, for the report of a man down. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene, and after finding no signs consistent with life, they pronounced the victim dead. The detectives’ investigation determined that the offense occurred within a home in the 1600 block of Rosedale Street, NE.
The victim has been identified as 13-year-old Ahmad Mims, of Northeast, DC.
- Suspect Sought in Theft from an Ambulance

The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the community’s assistance in locating a suspect who stole items from a DC Fire and EMS ambulance in Northeast.
On Sunday, June 28, 2026, at approximately 3:20 p.m., members from the DC Fire and EMS responded to a call in the Unit block of K Street, Northeast. While the members were inside of the location, a suspect entered the unoccupied ambulance and stole items. The suspect fled the scene before responding officers arrived.

- MPD Makes Arrests for Multiple Burglaries
The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest connected to multiple residential burglaries that occurred throughout the District of Columbia.
Between May 30 and July 6, 2026, the suspect burglarized six residences. In two of the burglary offenses, the residences were occupied by the victims. The suspect would take property and flee the scene. In two of the burglary offenses, the suspect stole a credit card and used it in several unauthorized transactions. The offenses are listed below:
Burglary II and Second-Degree Fraud: On May 30, 2026, in the 800 block of Channing Street, Northeast. CCN: 26073982
Burglary II: On June 4, 2026, in the 1200 block of 3rd Street, Northeast. CCN: 26076614
Burglary II and Second-Degree Fraud: On June 11, 2026, in the 1000 block of Half Street, Southeast. CCN: 26080390
Burglary I: On June 14, 2026, in the 300 block of M Street, Northeast, CCN: 26081867
Burglary I: On June 22, 2026, in the 800 block of Channing Street, Northeast, CCN: 26086084
Burglary II: On July 6, 2026, in the 6800 block of Laurel Street, Northwest. CCN: 26094085
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at approximately 5:22 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the 1200 block of 1st Street, Northeast, for the report of a stolen vehicle. Three suspects were found inside the stolen Tesla and were arrested. Fifth District detectives, who were familiar with the earlier burglary offenses, recognized one of the suspects as being involved.
As a result of the detectives’ investigation, a 17-year-old juvenile male of Northeast, D.C., was charged with:
Two counts of Burglary I
Four counts of Burglary II
Two counts of Second-Degree Fraud
Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle
Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance
Additionally, 21-year-old Dylawn T. Calhoun of Southeast, D.C., and a 17-year-old juvenile male of Northeast, D.C., were charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. The 17-year-old was additionally charged with Burglary II.
- MPD Arrests Suspect in a Business Burglary
The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man who stole copper wiring from a business in Northeast.
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, at approximately 11:33 a.m., the suspect gained access to a secured business parking lot in the 2100 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast. Once inside the parking lot, the suspect stole copper wiring and fled the scene.
Fifth District detectives were able to locate nearby surveillance video which led to the identification of the suspect.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant 56-year-old Kelvin Reando Brevard, of Southeast, D.C., was arrested and charged with Burglary Two.
- MPD Investigating Sumner Road Pedestrian Fatality
The Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Major Crash Investigations Unit is investigating a traffic fatality involving a pedestrian that occurred in Southeast.
On Sunday, July 5, 2026, at approximately 12:27 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 1200 block of Sumner Road, Southeast, for the report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Officers located an adult male suffering critical injuries in the roadway. DC Fire and EMS transported the adult male to a local hospital, and despite all efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation determined that the pedestrian was crossing the street in the 1200 block of Sumner Road, Southeast, when they were struck by an unknown vehicle that was travelling eastbound. The unknown vehicle fled the scene.
The decedent has been identified as 63-year-old Ricky Marshall, of Southeast, DC
- MPD Investigates Pennsylvania Avenue Homicide
The Metropolitan Police Department investigates a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast.
On Monday, July 6, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to the 2500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, for the report of a person down. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where after all lifesaving efforts failed, he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Turray Simms, of Northeast, DC.
- MPD Investigating Fatal Canal Street Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred in Southwest.
On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 9:38 p.m., a First District officer was flagged down in the 100 block of M Street, Southwest for the report of a man down. The officer located an adult male victim in the median suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. The detectives’ investigation determined that the shooting occurred in the 1300 block of Canal Street, Southwest.
Despite all lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Primus of Southwest, DC.
