  • MPD Makes Arrest in Northeast Fatal Stabbing

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the arrest of a suspect in a homicide that occurred in Northeast.
On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 12:46 a.m., members of the Fifth District responded to the 1100 block of First Street, Northeast for the report of a stabbing. Officers located an adult male victim inside of an establishment, conscious and breathing suffering from multiple stab wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where after all lifesaving efforts failed, he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Marvin Urquhart, of Northwest, DC.
The suspect was arrested on scene by responding officers. The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect stabbed the victim during a dispute over entering an establishment. As a result of detectives’ investigation, 50-year-old Cadoza Simms, of Northwest, D.C., was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

  • Suspects Arrested in 8th Street Assault

The Metropolitan Police Department announces arrests in an aggravated assault that occurred in March in Southeast.
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the suspects assaulted the victim in the 400 block of 8th Street, Southeast. The suspects then proceeded to follow the victim, assault the victim again, and flee the scene.
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant 24-year-old Anthony Ford of Bowie, MD was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
Previously, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, pursuant to D.C. Superior Court arrest warrants 31-year-old Ashton Sheppard of Northeast, D.C., 34-year-old Dominequee Dean of Oxon Hill, MD, and 28-year-old Hasan El Hawa of Silver Spring, MD were all arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.

  • Suspects Sought in Northeast Attempted Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying suspects in an Assault with an Attempt to Commit Robbery in Northeast.
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, at approximately 6:25 p.m., two juvenile males were riding on bikes when they came up to the victim at the intersection of 4th and A Street Northeast. The suspects demanded belongings from the victims and one suspect brandished a knife. The victims ran and escaped from the suspects before they obtained any property.
The suspects were captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the this video.
