  • MPD Investigating Pennsylvania Avenue Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the community’s assistance to identify three suspects involved in a robbery that occurred in Southeast.
On Friday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the victim was standing in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, when three suspects approached him. The suspects assaulted the victim, stole his property then fled the scene.
The suspects were captured by nearby surveillance cameras and can be seen in the photos above.

  • MPD Arrests Suspect in Two Homicide Investigations

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas, who was wanted in connection to two separate homicide investigations.
On Monday, June 30, 2025, at approximately 10:28 p.m., Third District officers responded to the sound of gunshots in the 1200 block of 7th Street, Northwest. Officers located one adult male unconscious, and an adult female and a 16-year-old male conscious and breathing suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded and transported all three victims to area hospitals. CCN 25098367
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, 21-year-old Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, of Granby, Massachusetts, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital.
Previously, On Friday, September 5, 2025, pursuant to DC Superior Court arrest warrants, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) arrested 17-year-old Kelvin Thomas, of Southeast, DC, and 17-year-old Jailen Lucas, of Northwest, DC. Both are charged as adults under Title 16 with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated). Detectives identified 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas as the third and final suspect in this case, and images of Lucas were disseminated to the public.
As MPD and our partners continued to search for Lucas in connection with the June 30th homicide, detectives with MPD’s Homicide Branch identified Lucas as a suspect in a separate death investigation.
On Friday, July 4, 2025, at approximately 5:19 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call for trouble inside of a residence in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast. Officers located a juvenile female unconscious and not breathing suffering an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the location and the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent was identified as 17-year-old Zoey Kelley, of Southeast, DC. Kelley’s death was subsequently ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) located and arrested 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas in Germantown, MD. Lucas was transported to MPD’s Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premediated) pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for his role in the homicide of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, and First Degree Murder While Armed (Premediated) pursuant to a DC Superior Court grand jury indictment for his role in the homicide of Zoey Kelley.
The Metropolitan Police Department would like to thank the members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force who made this arrest. MPD also extends its gratitude to our partners at the FBI Washington Field Office and the United States Marshals Service for their assistance throughout this investigation.

  • MPD Seeks Suspect in Burglary and Fraud

The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the community’s assistance to identify the suspect involved in a burglary and fraud that occurred in Northeast.
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 8:28 p.m., the suspect entered an occupied residence in the 600 block of 8th Street, Northeast. The suspect then stole property, including the victim’s bank cards, and fled. Shortly afterward, the suspect attempted to use the victim’s cards at several businesses.
