- MPD Arrests Suspect in a Southeast Homicide
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a suspect has been arrested in a homicide that occurred in Southeast.
On Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at approximately 12:23 p.m., First District officers responded to the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from gunshot wound injuries. He died at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Thomas Carlos Felder, of no fixed address.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 26-year-old James Rice, of Southeast, DC. Rice has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated).
- MPD Searching for Armed Carjacking Suspect

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed carjacking in Northeast.
On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at approximately 5:03 p.m., the suspects approached the victim in the 400 block of 9th Street, Northeast. One of the suspects produced a firearm and demanded the victim’s car keys and cell phone. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

- MPD Investigating a Fatal Northeast Shooting
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Northeast.
On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at approximately 1:22 p.m., members of the Fifth District responded to the 900 block of 7th Street, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male shooting victim. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel also responded. After all lifesaving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Delonte Smith, of Southwest, DC.
- MPD Searching for Retail Theft Suspect

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the suspect in a retail theft offense.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast, for the report of a retail theft. The suspect asked an employee to open up an alarm triggered shelf, and then pushed the employee out of the way and stole the items inside. The suspect then ran from the store.

- MPD Seeking Suspects in Burglary of Establishment
The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s assistance in locating suspects involved in a burglary of a business in Northeast.
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, at approximately 3:53 a.m., the suspects forcibly entered an establishment in the Unit block of K Street, Northeast. The suspects stole property from the establishment and then fled the scene.
