  • Armed Carjacking 1800 b/o Burke Street Southeast

On January 16, 2023, at approximately 2208 hours, (3) suspects, (1) armed with a handgun approached the victim while inside of his car and demanded the vehicle. The victim was not harmed. Taken was a gray 2015 Dodge Caravan with DC Tag FF5488. The suspects were described as black male juveniles. One suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, medium complexion, black face mask, 5’9”, and slim build. Suspect 2 was wearing a black hooded sweat shirt with a black mask, slim build, 5’6”,and dark complexion. The third suspect was a black teenager with an unknown gender, clothing, or description.

  • Homicide: 1500 Block of 19th Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, January 16, 2023, in the 1500 block of 19th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 11:56 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of an unconscious male. Upon arrival, the members located an adult male victim suffering from apparent puncture wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, the victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 59-year-old Raymond Johnson, of Southeast, DC.

  • Suspects Sought in an Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery Offense: 400 Block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two suspects in an Assault with Intent to Commit Robbery offense that occurred on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in the 400 block of New Jersey Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 6:50 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and then fled the scene without obtaining any property. No injuries were reported.

  • MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: Monday, January 9, 2022 to Monday, January 16, 2023

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District. In addition to our patrol officers, members from several of MPD’s specialized units work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off our streets. From Monday, January 9, 2022, through Monday, January 16, 2023, MPD detectives and officers recovered 45 firearms in the District of Columbia.

-A Ruger P-95 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 800 block of Bladensburg Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 42-year-old Georvon Sylvester Kave, of no fixed address, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.

-A SCCY Industries CPX-2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1600 block of Gales Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Kyre Timothy O’Neal Robinson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Unlawful Possession of Liquid PCP, and Obliterate, Remove, Change or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm.

-A Vulcan Inver Grove MN V10 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of M Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 37-year-old Harry Dean Jackson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Driving while Intoxicated, No Permit, Fugitive from Justice, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.

-A Taurus G2C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of 17th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 45-year-old Robert Lovell Cole, of Northeast, D.C., Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, No Permit, Counterfeit Tags, Alter the Identification Marks of a Weapon, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.

    -Utilize Amazon delivery lockers when feasible.
    -Have a neighbor keep an eye out for your packages while on vacation or away from home if possible.
    -Investing in a personal package delivery box to place on your property, some of these boxes provide smart phone alerts once a delivery is received to your home.
    -Require a signature to ensure you receive the package upon delivery.
    -Sign up for delivery alerts from USPS, FedEx, and UPS to track packages in real time.
