Hope you enjoyed that nail-biter of a game between Iran and the US! (Missed it? Game highlights from the WaPo here.) The United States plays again on Saturday morning and many bars around our area are open and ready for you, like Wunder Garten in NoMa and Union Pub. Other than living and breathing World Cup, what else is going on?

We have a few holiday-themed bars in our area. Maxwell Park tried a double whammy: Taylor Swift’s Bejeweled cum Christmas. (Washingtonian) However, it seems early efforts may have fallen short, according to Twitter user and reader Walter DeLeon:

Another place that may have fallen short of expectations is Enchant Christmas DC. Reader Karen Szala toured the Christmas-themed light installation late last week and shared the disappointing set-up on Instagram. Hope it’s changed– we’ll let you know, as we’ll be attending a media preview later in the week.
