- Homicide: 1800 Block of East Capitol Street, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, September 4, 2022, in the 1800 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast.
At approximately 3:41 pm, members of the First District responded to 19th and East Capitol Street, Northeast for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim in the 1800 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast suffering from apparent trauma. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 31-year-old David Louis Baker, Jr., of Northeast, DC.
The decedent’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) for an autopsy. As a result, the cause of death was determined to be sharp force injuries and the manner of death homicide.
- Arrest Made in a Robbery (Snatch) Offense: 700 Block of 7th Street, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in reference to a Robbery (Snatch) offense that occurred on Monday, September 5, 2022, in the 700 block of 7th Street, Southeast.
At approximately 5:44 pm, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location and snatched property from the victim. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.
On Monday, September 5, 2022, 18-year-old Dartanian Owens, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Robbery (Snatch).
- Suspect Sought in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) Offense: 1800 Block of Benning Road, Northeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) offense that occurred on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, in the 1800 block of Benning Road, Northeast.
At approximately 7:40 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

- First District Carjacking
The First District is currently investigating a robbery that occurred on Friday, September 9, 2022 at approximately 9:30PM in the 200 block of 8th St SE. Two black males, wearing dark colored clothing, approached the victim, brandished a firearm and took the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle, a gold Honda Accord with Maryland tag 9EW5077, is still outstanding.
