Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announced an arrest has been made in reference to Armed Robbery (Gun) and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offenses that occurred on Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the 1700 block of Gales Street, Northeast.
At approximately 7:34 am, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and the other suspect took the victim’s property. A struggle ensued and the armed suspect shot the victim. The suspects then fled the scene with the victim’s property. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
On Saturday, July 31, 2021, a 16 year-old juvenile male, of North Dinwiddie, VA, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun) and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun). The second suspect was captured by a surveillance camera and can be seen in the photos.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announce an arrest has been made in an Armed Robbery (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, July 26, 2021, in the 1200 block of I Street, Southeast.
At approximately 5:50 pm, the suspects approached the victim at the listed location. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victims’ property. The victim complied. The suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle.
On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, 27 year-old Raymond Benson, of Southwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery (Gun).
This case remains under investigation.
- Arrest Made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Offense (Gun): Unit Block of N Street, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offensethat occurred on Saturday, July 31, 2021, in the Unit block of N Street, Southeast.
At approximately 2:15 am, the suspect approached the victim at the listed location and brandished a handgun. A passerby saw the suspect brandishing a handgun and tackled the suspect to subdue him. As the passerby tackled the suspect, the suspect’s weapon discharged with no rounds taking effect. The victim and passerby held the suspect until police arrived. Minor injuries were reported.
On Saturday, July 31, 2021, 42 year-old Eric English, of Northwest, DC, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announces an arrest has been made in reference to an Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in the 700 block of 2nd Street, Northeast.
At approximately 11:57 am, two suspects approached the victim at the listed location. The suspects assaulted the victim and then one of the suspects brandished a handgun. The suspects then fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle and a replica firearm were recovered.
On Wednesday, July 28, 2021, a 13 year-old juvenile male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun).
This case remains under investigation.
Suspects Sought in a Burglary One Offense: 1300 Block of E Street, Southeast
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District seek the public’s assistance in identifying suspects in reference to a Burglary One offense that occurred on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in the 1300 block of E Street, Southeast.
At approximately 2:20 am, the suspects entered an occupied residence at the listed location. Once inside the residence, the suspects took property then fled the scene.
