The Set List:

The Set List with DC Music Live: Week of June 9, 2021

Welcome to a new iteration of The Set List! My name is NG (Naomi-Grace) Panlaqui. Together with Nameer Rizvi, we are the Hill East-based developer-couple behind DC Music Live, a mobile app that aggregates live and virtual music events in DC. You may have seen the app recently featured on DCist.

We teamed up with The Hill Is Home for this feature because we love our beautiful neighborhood and its vibrant live music scene. We want to encourage our fellow Hill residents to find ways to support the venues and artists that make the DC music scene so special and highlight events that may only be a few blocks away from you. We’re just getting started! Every other Wednesday, look out for a list of upcoming shows on and off the Hill, reviews of past shows, and more.

We’re only two days away from music venues operating at 100% capacity in DC. While some venues are preparing offerings for the fall, there are a few live shows popping up around the Hill and the rest of the city this weekend. If you attend a show or two in these listings, feel free to take a picture and tag us with #DCMusicLive.

Big Happening: Live Music returns to Mr. Henry’s this week!

Last Weekend

We were wandering around Navy Yard this past Saturday after walking off some Tikka Masala from Bombay Street Food 2, when we heard the rumblings of blues outside The Bullpen. We didn’t think there were any live shows around the area, so we were surprised to see Sol Roots there performing to a small smattering of people.

“These guys are amazing,” Kevin, the owner of the Bullpen, commented when we got our drinks. We couldn’t agree more and felt very lucky to be basking in the sun in a casual, picnic table while enjoying Sol’s vocals. Despite the crowd size, the vibes were with the band. By the end of the show, “Stand by me” made the crowd go from swaying arms to full-on dancing by the stage.

The Set List is written by NG (Naomi-Grace) Panlaqui, one half of the developer couple behind DC Music Live, an app where you can search live acts by neighborhood, venue, or metro line to find aggregated music shows happening near you. We’re partnering with The Hill Is Home to provide upcoming shows on and off the Hill, show reviews, and more.

Supporting and promoting the venues and artists that bring us live music in the city we love has become so important, especially as we emerge from this pandemic. If you attend a show, take a picture and give us a shout! #DCMusicLive
