The United States Capitol is on lockdown as of 2 p.m. this afternoon. The cause, as far as can be determined, is that a man drove his car into the north gates, which have built-in barricades and are located in the unit block of Constitution Avenue NE and then came at two officers with a knife. It appears two officers are injured, and the suspect may be in cardiac arrest but this is not confirmed. Via Alan Henney, independent journalist, as well as information from Capitol Police and other journalists on Twitter, here is a short recap of what has happened so far. This post will be updated.
