Dining:

Congratulations to Bistro Cacao on their new location!

Bistro Cacao, a longtime mainstay on Massachusetts Avenue, NE, is moving to a new location, right next door at 316 Massachusetts. After must-stop watering hole La Loma closed its doors back in May of 2019, the two-rowhome, two-story space stayed vacant through the summer and into the fall. At some point, Bistro Cacao owners Yavuz and Hulya Bolukbasi acquired the property and decided to move their operations just a little bit farther west. According to Hulya, “Our next door neighbors were selling their place and we immediately saw an opportunity to increase our sitting and private party capacity. We believe our new venue will allow us to better serve our neighborhood community and customers.”

And the new space looks gorgeous, judging by the photos! Check out the pretty new bar space:

As you can see, the decor elements like wine racks and pearls and crystals — some of them holdovers from the defunct Two Quail– are carrying over to the new space. But will they miss their old space? Hulya adds, “We will miss the good memories of the old place but we hope to have many more of them at our new venue.”

The best part is that the new space comes with a larger kitchen, which will allow chef Chef Guven Dogan to source more local ingredients into the menu, while keeping the French ambiance. The restaurant will also be expanding their brunch offerings, which have been solid staples for years. Their little pastry basket alone is worth the trip.

Bistro Cacao will officially open in their new location on Friday, January 31. They are on soft opening this whole week, so go say hello and check out their new menu additions!
