To Do: Weekend of August 8th-11th

Play Bingo with DC Fray tonight at Union Market

I’m sure you are reading this on your phone while you are waiting for your flight/fruity drink/ferry to some car-free island. This town is empty and so are the calendars. Even the Nats are out of town this weekend!

Here’s a few things that might interest you if you’re sticking around:

Tonight: B I N G O at Union Market courtesy of the professional funsters of DC Fray. It is free to play so there’s nothing to lose. Bingo is 7 to 9p.m.

Friday, take a Long Lunch and maybe learn a thing or two. Chef Mark Haskell will teach you the art of making potstickers. Crafty and delicious! The lunch/class begins at 11 and ends at 12:30. It’s August and I doubt your boss is even there so live a little. Register here.

Saturday is the final drop-in Summer Saturday at CHAW. Parents and kiddos are welcome to come by between 10 a.m. and noon to do some hands-on crafting. It is free and open to all.

It’s the first annual Asian Food Truck Festival at the Bullpen. From noon to 10pm, you can sample fare from Korean, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese cuisine. Admission is free and there will be specialty drinks available at the Bullpen Bar. Attendees who aim for the 7:30-9:30pm time period will be treated to a K-Pop set by DJ Blakberri. Cue the screaming teens…

Capitol Hill Books hosts its monthly wine and cheese gathering from 4 to 8 p.m. Go. Buy something! Follow them on Twitter.

Sunday is your last chance to catch Jayne Atkinson  playing the late Ann Richards in Ann at Arena Stage. If you are too young to remember, Google her. She was a force.
