Sip and Savor, the annual fundraiser that brings excellent food and drink together, as well as a silent auction, to benefit Everyone Home DC, is less than a month away and you should get tickets! On Saturday, September 14, you’ll get to experience the joy of unlimited food and drink tastings from favorites like Valor Brewpub, Whaley’s, Joselito, One Eight Distilling and more. It is all coming to Eastern Market’s North Hall– the band, the games, the food and drink, and you are invited! Tickets are $85 general admission and $35 for just food. If you’re feeling extra generous, $500 will get you two VIP tickets and a special, just-for-you shoutout. Yay, generosity!

You may be inclined to ask yourself, “Why should I go to yet another fundraiser?” It is a bit of a grumpy question, but I’m sure it’s there, floating in the back of your mind. Aside from the tremendous deal you’re getting on the food and drink, you get to attend a really fun party! And then there is that good feeling of donating to an excellent cause: making sure everyone has a home in our District.

I asked the kind folks over at Everyone Home DC to tell us what they love most about Sip and Savor, just in case you’re still on the fence, or the above paragraph didn’t do it for you. Get a hanky out, because this is what they said:

Steven Koons, Everyone Home DC Board of Directors: The best part of Sip and Savor to me is seeing the community—local resident attendees, restauranteurs, beverage purveyors, sponsors, silent auction donors, musicians, foodies, Everyone Home DC board and staff, and community leaders—unite in support of our neighbors experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Kim Daulton, Everyone Home DC Friend: Good food and drink is a way to build relationships and nourish our spirits.  Sip and Savor is an opportunity to do just that, to meaningfully bring people together to connect and support their community.

Pat Joseph, Everyone Home DC Board of Directors & Sip and Savor Committee Member:
My favorite part of Sip and Savor has to be when I first walk in and feel all the energy and excitement.

Abby Sypek, Everyone Home DC Community Engagement Manager: Sip and Savor is so special because it truly is a community event. The vendors, the guests, and our agency all have a common goal of supporting one another and making our community stronger. And it’s really fun to try different drinks and taste so many delicious treats!

Heather Powers, Longtime Everyone Home DC Supporter: At Sip and Savor I most enjoy supporting the urgent work that Everyone Home DC does for our neighbors at risk of or experiencing homelessness. To get to do so while gathering with friends to taste some of DC’s finest local fare at my favorite neighborhood market–is a great bonus!  Sip and Savor is all about supporting our city–the people experiencing various levels of need and abundance, the food in its fascinating variety, and the beverages of good quality.

Kate Akalonu, Everyone Home DC Director of Strategic Initiatives: This evening is one of the best fundraising event “deals” that I have seen. People who join us have access to three hours of unlimited tastings from 25 of the DC region’s finest (and extremely generous) food and beverage purveyors in a really vibrant and welcoming environment. AND all the proceeds benefit Everyone Home DC’s homelessness prevention, housing, street outreach, drop-in day center, and supportive services for individuals and families in our city who find themselves at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Keith White, Friend of Everyone Home DC: Great fun, great food, for a great cause

Camille Holmes, Everyone Home DC Supporter: One of my favorite parts of Sip and Savor is the photo booth. Fun powers our spirits and the work.

I am right there with Camille: I love the photo booth (but honestly, I’ve never met a photo booth I didn’t like). I hope these kind folks’ testimonies have convinced you more than I ever could. Come party with your friends and neighbors, make new ones, try something delicious and know that you are doing it to support that wonderful feeling of home that is so hard for so many to come by. Click here for tickets and see you in September!
