Barracks Row:

Much-needed sidewalk repair starts on Barracks Row this Wednesday, 8/14

It seems the kind elves over at DDOT have had an incredibly productive summer, and for this we are grateful. Over on 8th and D NE, neighbors have rejoiced over the newly minted four-way stop; the neighbors at 12th and G SE have also noticed the calm and lack of craziness that a four-way stop brings. Maryland Avenue, NE, is getting its traffic calming on. The interim park broke ground over at the Eastern Market Metro plaza as well. But perhaps one of the most exciting works coming is the sidewalk repair all along Barracks Row, due to start this Wednesday. The project spans 8th Street SE, Barracks Row, from D to M Streets, SE. According to the email from DDOT itself and an email update from Barracks Row Main Street, the project will first roll out on the west side of 8th Street from D to M Street SE and then moving north on the east side of 8th from M back to D Street SE. It is expected that the sidewalk refresh will take about 34 days to complete– just in time for the Barracks Row Fall Festival!

We wish good luck to all the businesses who will have to be extra patient while their sidewalks get spiffed up. This is a good time to patron local goods and services!
