Dacha Navy Yard’s owners are being sued for apparent failure to pay many of their bills in excess of $270,000. In addition to their bills-related woes, “when the full beer garden menu launched, an automatic 18-percent “gratuity” (20-percent for parties of six or more) was added to all checks. Come payday, bartenders say they were shocked to see they weren’t receiving the tip amount… It all went to the house.” Unconscionable. Washingtonian
After Jestin Hickman, 21, was charged with sex abuse for molesting a 13-year old, parents across the District are demanding better oversight – especially for contractors. How exactly are background checks run for contractors anyway? What kind of shoddy workarounds are happening with Springboard Education? To work at DCPS, you’re supposed to pee into a cup, get fingerprinted and get your TB test or a chest X-ray (thank you, BCG vaccine). The fingerprinting is done in-house; none of this is optional. If I were a parent at Capitol Hill Logan at Montessori, I would not rest until I got answers, both from DCPS and from Springboard. Fox5 DC
