This is your last weekend to catch King John at the Folger Shakespeare Theatre. Brought to life under the creative eye of Aaron Posner, King John is a play that is rarely staged– possibly partly due to its complex and multilayered staging logistics. The Folger, always rising to the challenges thanks to a talented team, surmounts the production confusion and brings a nuanced cacophony with a purpose to this staging of King John. We liked especially DC Metro Theatre Arts’ review of the play: It does a great job of breaking down the complexities of the staging and focuses on the incredible creativity involved in bringing this little-known gem to life.
King John will be performed for the last time on Sunday, December 2; however, you can catch a free lecture before Friday’s show, titled “King John on Stage and Screen.” To buy tickets or get more information, you can visit https://www.folger.edu/events/free-folger-friday-king-john-on-stage-and-screen.
