Wedding Watch Party at the Queen Vic

The Southeast Library has made sure its patrons are well versed and well prepared for THE wedding. Photo by Kate McFadden.

You know you’re going to watch. On Saturday American Meghan Markle will wed Great Britian’s Prince Harry and hoopla will ensue. Who are we kidding: It’s been months and months of build-up!  Who can resist: princesses, crown jewels, mountains of tulle, family intrigue and all sorts of wedding-themed tchotchkes. Don’t you want to bet a pound or two on whether Megan’s father will show up or guess what color hat Queen Elizabeth will wear? Perhaps it’s just enough to practice your elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist.

To celebrate with like minded folk, head over to The Queen Vic (1206 H Street NE) this Saturday, May 19, for a viewing party starting at 6.30 a.m. Yes, 6:30 a.m. Enjoy a special menu including English scones, bubble & squeak, devil Scotch eggs, or settle in for a long day of royal watching with a full English breakfast. A portion of the proceeds from the menu will be donated to The Myna Mahila Foundation.

Here’s to the happy couple! May the fascinators be abundant and not disappoint.
