On The Hill:

While Thurston Moore is most known for his role as singer and guitarist of Sonic Youth, which he started back in 1980, he currently performs with his own band, The Thurston Moore Group. Moore has been at the forefront of the alt-rock scene for decades pushing mainstream boundaries and bringing rock n’ roll experimentation to multiple generations. The Thurston Moore Group is touring in support of their latest release, Rock n Roll Consciousness. The album is filled with expansive, anthemic songs– one after another. The band  radiates optimism and positivity. Head out for an evening with Thurston Moore at the Rock & Roll Hotel on February 8. Tickets are available here.

Vim & Vigor, the five-piece indie pop band from DC, has been quickly gaining support from the local music scene. Influences such as Amy Winehouse and The Head and The Heart are clearly heard in the band’s distinct mix of layers upon layers of instrumentals and incredible vocals. This show is celebrating the release of the band’s second EP and will include openers Oh He Dead and Justin Trawick & The Common Good. Support local music and check out Vim & Vigor on February 16 at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Buy your tickets now.

Two Feet has brought a unique mix of electronica, jazz, blues, and soul music. While this may seem like a strange combination, Two Feet has emerged as a strong up-and-coming artist in the alternative scene with his dreamy and mellow sound. His debut EP, First Steps, was released in the summer of 2016 and propelled him to unanticipated success. Top hits such as “Go F**k Yourself” have amassed over 71 million Spotify streams alone. Upon the release of his sophomore EP, Momentum, this past summer, he scored spots at huge festivals like Austin City Limits and Bonnaroo. Don’t miss Two Feet on February 18 at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Around DC:

Nashville’s pop quartet COIN has taken over the radio the last few years and is back on the road for more charismatic live shows! The band’s acclaimed 2017 sophomore album, How Will You Know If You Never Try, showed that they aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Hits such as “Talk Too Much” and “Run” boosted their success and became part of the normal rotation on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation as some of the best songs of the summer. COIN’s contagious, dream-pop sound will get stuck in your head from the first listen. The band has been recognized by Amazon, Time Magazine, and Billboard as a top artist to watch. Check out COIN on February 10 at the 9:30 Club. Tickets are available now.

The four Irish indie-rockers of The Academic perfectly capture the feeling of youthful passion on both their debut EP as well as their first full-length, Tales From The Backseat. Charming, personal stories are artfully told through calming melodies and explosive pop-rock songs. The band has received international acclaim and their fan base continues to expand with every show. The Academic has played sold out shows across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe, and makes the jump over the pond for more highly anticipated shows this spring. The new album is filled with heartfelt emotions and great guitar riffs– and some harmonica for good measure. Following the release of her debut album in 2012, she had her songs featured in movies and TV shows, collaborated with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, and received critical acclaim from outlets such as Rolling Stone and USA Today.
