Ready, Willing & Working is a finalist to win $10,000 but they need your help to win! Hop on over the Sugarlands Distilling Co. website to cast your vote today!

Sugarlands Distilling Co. is based in Tennessee but support nonprofits around the country through their MoonShare Year of Giving program, during which they provide monetary donations to six elected nonprofits, awarding each organization $10,000.

What is Ready, Willing & Working (RWW) and why should you vote for them? They are better known as the Men (and Women) in Blue who help keep our city clean. But there is so much more to this great program.

Started by the Capitol Hill Business Improvement District (BID) and modeled after the successful “Ready, Willing & Able” program in New York, RWW provides resources and opportunities to the homeless population — single, able-bodied adults, the majority of whom have histories of incarceration and substance addiction. This program provides them with counseling, assistence to get permanent housing, jobs, and soon a GED program. It also provides job opportunities to a population that otherwise faces challenges getting back onto their feet because of their records.

As explained by the program, “While It costs approximately $25,000 to keep a single adult in the District shelter system, upwards of $50,000 a year for an inmate to be incarcerated, RWW can train, counsel and educate a participant for around $2,500. All the members of our team earn a living wage with excellent benefits. 70% of participants remain employed, independently housed, and drug-free after 3 years of entering the program.”

So go vote today, and give a smile and a thank you to this great team when you see them around the neighborhood.
