On The Hill:

Head out on the Hill for a Friday night with some local music! Ruse de Guerre is a rock band from Reston, Virginia who sold out their first headlining show ever after just two weeks of being a band. They currently have an EP and are working on their debut full length slated for a spring 2018 release. The band is also heavily involved in the support of local charities and artists. Catch Ruse de Guerre on December 29 at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Get your tickets now.

Stay close to home and celebrate midnight with New Year’s Eve at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Those 21 and over can dance the night away starting at 8 p.m. Your ticket includes admission, live DJs on the first and second floors, an open bar all night long, first come first served appetizers, and a midnight balloon drop! This is also the perfect chance to check out the heated igloos on the rooftop bar area of the venue. This event has sold out every year since the Rock & Roll Hotel was established in 2006, but you still have time! Get your tickets and see the full lineup of DJs here!

Around DC:

Spoon will wrap up 2017 for New Year’s Eve at the 9:30 Club. Celebrate with great live music and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight! Spoon has made a serious mark on the music world since their formation in the 90s. Their music has been labeled as experimental rock and even psychedelic, but their punk-based, independent music style is truly what ropes fans in. Spoon’s critical acclaim spreads far and wide. In March, the band released their ninth studio album, Hot Thoughts. This is going to be an incredible show, so pick up your tickets now!

The Wombats are taking over the 9:30 Club as we start off 2018. Their bouncing British indie rock and anthemic melodies will make The Wombats your new favorite band. Hits like “Let’s Dance To Joy Division” and “Greek Tragedy” have pushed them to massive radio play over the years. The band will hit DC ahead of their upcoming fourth album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, which is set to release in early February. Don’t miss The Wombats on January 8. Buy tickets now.

Passion Pit, the indie electronica band hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, is back! With immediate hits like “Take A Walk” and “Sleepyhead” throughout the years, the band has gained a huge following. Their synthesizers, incredible vocals, catchy melodies, and extremely personal lyrics documenting struggles with mental health give Passion Pit a distinct and memorable sound. They are currently on tour after the release of their fourth studio album, Tremendous Sea of Love, which was first released for free in exchange for retweets in support of the #WeNeedScience campaign. All royalties from the new album will be donated to the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research. The show on January 10 at the 9:30 Club is sold out, but tickets for January 9 are still available. Get yours here while they last!

Since the early 2000s, The Killers have defied genre boundaries and released five chart-topping albums. Having sold over 22 million albums worldwide, The Killers can be seen as one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century. Their success spans the globe with sold-out shows on six continents and sold out performances in coveted venues such as Madison Square Garden and Wembley Stadium. The band’s most recent album, Wonderful Wonderful, landed at number one on both the US Billboard Top 200 and the UK Album Chart. I can attest that The Killers put on an absolutely incredible live show. Unfortunately, tickets for the show at The Anthem on January 10 are currently sold out. If you were lucky enough to snag some, you are in for an amazing show!
