ANC:

Updates From Your ANC Commissioners

We periodically share updates from your ANC commissioners. Even though their updates are focused mostly on the commissioner’s particular Single Member District, we believe these updates can be of interest and relevance to Capitol Hill and Ward 6 in general. –MHC

ANC 6B Special Call Meeting
Tuesday August 29, 730pm, Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Avenue SE

The agenda for this meeting is exclusively focused on issues surrounding the closure of the 200 and 300 blocks of 7th Street SE on weekends.  There are lots of opinions swirling around the issue by a diverse set of stakeholders.  Come and let everyone know what you think.  The meeting agenda is here.  Because this is a Special Call meeting, the ANC can vote its position(s) on the issues tomorrow evening.

ANC 6B Executive Committee Meeting

  • Transportation Committee Meeting, Wednesday September 6.

Barney Circle and Southeast Boulevard Study (With DDOT)
Saturday, September 16, 10am to noon
Chamberlain Elementary School, 1345 Potomac Avenue SE
This study has been a ongoing process since 2013.  In essence, the study is about how to best use the land area between 11th Street SE and Barney Circle and redesign the Circle. For a summary of the study’s, 3 phases so far, check out my “Background on the SE Boulevard”  [scroll down to Notes & Links section]. This summary has links to various studies including the Office of Planning’s 2014 Southeast Boulevard Planning Study.  The OP study reset the scope of the initial 2013 study.  The website for the resumed DDOT study is http://www.seboulevard.com/
Virginia Avenue SE
At the August CSX VAT “Coffee with Chuck” meeting with the community, CSX initiated a discussion about the upcoming work (to begin this Fall) to restore Virginia Avenue and all its intersections and implement the Virginia Avenue Streetscape plan.  If you are interested in knowing more about these plans, I suggest you attend the next “Coffee with Chuck” on Wednesday, September 13, 8am to 9am, at the CSX Community Office, 861 New Jersey Avenue SE. The link to the presentation from the August 16 meeting is here.
