The Edgewood/Brookland Family Support Collaborative (E/BFSC) is a community-based, non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen families, and build vibrant communities within the District of Columbia. Each year, E/BFSC hosts a Holiday Campaign in which we ask for support to ensure families living in our community have a successful holiday season.
We are currently in need of Thanksgiving turkeys and non-perishable food items to provide Thanksgiving baskets for some of our highest-need families. E/BFSC also welcomes the following forms of support for the 2016 Holiday Campaign and the rest of the holiday season:
- Adopt a family for the holidays
- Donate new unwrapped toys
- Donate gift cards for teenagers – Gift cards in increments of $50.00 (Forever 21, Footlocker, Aeropostle, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Gap, Old Navy, H&M)
- Monetary donations: checks or PayPal
Last year, E/BFSC and its donors partnered with other community distribution sites and provided Thanksgiving dinner baskets to over 41 families from Wards 5 and 6. We were able to provide over 249 children (105 families) with toys, gift cards and food, and many children were adopted directly from local residents, businesses and community partners. Thanks to donations, we were also able to fully sponsor two holiday celebrations in Wards 5 and 6, serving over 150 seniors in the community.
