The following is an update from ANC6B04 commissioner Kirsten Oldenburg. While it focuses more on her SMD, all Capitol Hill residents may find something of interest in her report. Are you an ANC commissioner who shares his or her updates with your constituents? Drop us a line at thehillishome@gmail.com and we’ll share yours!

HINE CRANE REMOVAL
One of the 3 stationary cranes in operation at the Hine development (the one at 7th and C Streets) will be dismantled and removed on Thursday and Friday, October 20 and 21.  Contrary to previous information, this process will not require any street closures.  Although, I am sure there will be disruptions to vehicle traffic on 7th Street between Pennsylvania and Independence Avenues.  The crane on 8th Street will be removed next but, at this time, is not scheduled.  The 3rd crane, at Pennsylvania Avenue, will stay for a while longer.  More information on the Hine project is in the September 23rd CAC report.

BARRACKS GROW ART WORKSHOPS
The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW) is teaming up with the 11th Street Bridge Park and National Community Church on a local art project and your help is needed!  Over the summer, the Bridge Park and NCC partnered to create “Barracks Grow” an urban farm on Virginia Avenue SE (at 7th Street) [see previous Beat26 email].  CHAW is now leading an effort to create an art installation at the garden.  No prior art skills are needed.  See below for workshop dates and times.  All events are free and take place at CHAW (545 7th Street SE).  Click the links below for additional information.
